New work: Australian native tree illustrations

New client work - Australian native trees, hand painted using watercolors on paper.

Custom tree illustrations take time to create, but with these custom requests there is an opportunity to not only picture the plant in all it’s glory, but also to portray a unique connection it holds with different plants in it’s ecosystem. Illustration of Black Booyong includes a Strangler Fig, a tropical fig that acts as a strangler of the host trees they land on, often growing their roots from seedlings downward and envelop the host tree up to the final stage of the host dying. Often they form an outer, columnar tree around the host and it is honestly breathtaking to watch.
