A Plant Lover's Travel Guide: Keukenhof flower park
A Guide for the fellow plant lovers featuring travel destinations around the world. Part 2. Keukenhof flower park.
This is an overview of our trip to Netherlands in April 2019.
Keukenhof is a place to visit to discover the Dutch tulips heaven, it opens to the public only from the end of March, until beginning of May. Park is located not far from Amsterdam, so there are both options to get there by car and by public bus.
TIP: Purchase tickets ahead of time online. Come early, before 10:30 will be great. Bring drinking water. There will be free maps right after the entrance.
Right after the Main entrance we took a left turn and had a long walk through the tulip plantations. Each has an indicator of the name, that is always very helpful to identify the flowers after the trip.
Taking the walk towards the lake, there is an impressive panorama of the hills, filled with colorful blooms.
There are couple of pavilions/ flower shows you can enter and have a look around, my favorite was Orchids pavilion.
They had a big selection shown there, with couple of not so common species that I was lucky to discover for the first time, like this green Lady Slipper orchid.
Mysterious Parrot tulip was one of my favorite to spot in the Park.
If you love flowers and enjoy observing them - you will be amazed by Keukenhof park, for sure.
