Packaging for artists: Shipping supply essentials
Shipping original artwork never gets easy. Every time I drop off the package at the post office, I hold my breath and just hope nothing happens to it. As a one-of-a-kind piece of art, to me it’s priceless and no insurance can cover the loss in case it’s lost or damaged. So here is a compilation of shipping supplies I use to ship artworks that just make sense.
Custom thank you cards for hand-written notes are a perfect wholesome touch for any kind of small business.
Smaller artworks shipped out flat, while larger pieces I’ll ship rolled in a tube. Here are my essentials:
Flat envelopes (Stayflats 9 3/4 x 12 1/4) from Uline
Recycled cardboard - this one is backing from one of my paper pads, I also use chipboard pads from Uline
Old plastic sleeves. While trying to find sustainable alternatives I am using up what I have
White protective paper - something I add on top of every painting before it goes into the plastic sleeve, I believe it minimizes any friction there might be during the handling process. I got a simple and affordable paper roll from Staples
Custom stickers are something I was looking into for a while now to add to my packaging. Thanks to Sticker Canada for gifting me these! They have such a wide range of finishes, so if you are looking for stickers, definitely check them out stickercanada.com
